Job Context 

Top Security company is seeking a Training Officer.
Reporting to the Head of Operational Training, the main responsibility of the Training Officer is to implement and manage training and development solutions in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements to meet business and customer needs

Minimum Requirements 

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Preference code EC (10) valid driver’s license
• Valid Firearm competency certificate
• Registered PSIRA Grade A
• Registered PSIRA Grade A Instructor
• Registered SASSETA Facilitator/Assessor
• Fire Arm Accredited (CIT/Armed Response/Security)
• Accreditations in retail and H & S (will be advantageous)
• Knowledge of curriculum and learning programme design
• Knowledge of the PSIRA and SETA training regulations and requirements
• Knowledge of Skills Development, EE, LRA and SAQA legislation
• Knowledge of training facilitation, evaluation and moderation
• Relationship Building
• Understanding the organisational environment
• Strong Communication (written and Verbal)
• Delivering Objects
• MS Office skills
• Quality presentation skills
• Facilitation experience, knowledge of best practice for training in security environment


Duties & Responsibilities Course Administration

•Participate in effective planning, scheduling and implementation of the training intervention to meet the company’s needs with focus on core skills identified;
•Liaise with the Training Administrator in compiling training material, documentation and evaluation feedback reports;
•Manage an effective Training Administrative system
•Ensure training rooms and training equipment are well maintained and training material is printed and readily available for training sessions;
•Ensure that the training sites operate safely in accordance with the applicable statutory instruments and acts;
•Comply fully with the requirements of the Company Health and Safety Program as well as the relevant Health and Safety Legislation and accompanying regulations- and enforce the Program amongst Learners;
•Ensure that expense mandates follow audit procedures
•Submit weekly training reports

Facilitation:

•Conduct and facilitate various training interventions;
•Provide on the job and off the job coaching to employees in order to improve business performance;
•Evaluate effectiveness of training and make the necessary changes in training material and/or training delivery methods;
•Plan and prepare for a learning event;
•Support learners before, during and after the presentation of a learning programme.
•Evaluate quality of the training process;
•Evaluate the quality of policies and procedures;
•Complete course related administration,
•Providing the learner with information on the learning programme;
•Advising the learner on technical issues in relation to the learning programme;
•Preparing the learner for assessment and conduct formative assessment;
•Evaluate evidence that is submitted by learner;
•Provide feedback to the learner on his/her performance;
•Keep of prescribed records i.e. daily attendance register etc.;
•Ensure that housekeeping in the training area is to high standard of lay-out, storage, neatness and cleanliness, i.e.: a place for everything and everything in its place;
•Liaise with management around learner’s performance.

Assessment:

•Brief and advise learners on assessment process;
•Orientate learners on unit standard requirements;
•Plan assessment process;
•Identify special needs of the learner;
•Select and develop relevant assessment instruments;
•Conduct the assessment and assess the competency of the learner against learning outcomes and provide proof of assessments;
•Evaluate evidence that is submitted by learner;
•Record assessment process and outcomes;
•Provide feedback to learner and management;
•Complete all and any relevant documentation, i.e. Assessment Report
