Position Purpose : 

To provide support service to Artisans/Trade Hands regarding civil/electrical maintenance, repairs and new works service within TNPA Infrastructure Department to ensure timeous completion of tasks and well maintained infrastructure.

Position outputs : 

1.Clean tools and working areas to ensure effective housekeeping, safety and maintenance of tools and equipment.
2.Collect and carry tools, ladders, and materials.
3.Hand chasing walls and floors
4.Remove and replace defective, drains, gutters, covers, and kerbstones.
5.Removes and replace broken manholes.
6.Removes damaged doors, frames, basins, waste pipes, pegs, handles, covers, skirting, vents and traps.
7.Scrapes, wash, chip and sand paper
8.Open blocked drains, sewer and traps
9.Assist with laying of concrete paving slabs/blocks, dish channels
10.Cuts and thread tubing
11.Remove locks, hinges, covers, doors, windows, fencing, and poles as directed by Artisan. 12.Mixing concrete using shovel or concrete mixer as directed
13.Removes and replaces furniture and equipment from work areas.
14.Backfilling
15.Excavation using pick and shovel
16.Assist with fitting of toilet cisterns, wash basins, water systems, laying of pipes, changing globes, 17.Removes and replace tap washers, flush pipe connectors and tap connectors
18.Digging holes and trenches.
19.Filling and compacting of pot holes
20.Erect signposts, trestles or scaffolding
21.Removes or demolish old brickwork
22.Removes/tightens bolts, nuts, hinges or handles
23.Paint work around Port
24.Connects/disconnects cables
25.Cleaning roof, gutters and down pipes
26.Grinding using angle grinder
27.Clean work areas, tools and equipment
28.Assist with the setting up of shutters
29.Lays damp proofing, cement foundation as directed by artisan/supervisor.
30.Assist with maintenance and repairs of water/sewer pipes/pumps.
31.Assist with sandblasting
32.Remove and replace damaged wall and floor tiles ( carpet/ceramic)
33.Assist with the erection of scaffolding
34.Assist with grass cutting
35.Assist with repairs to concrete sea-walls
36.Assist with all slipway requirements
37.Assist with water and electrical readings
38.Fork lift operator and light vehicle driver for general Port duties


Qualifications & Experience : 

Grade 10
6 Months work experience is required
Valid Drivers License

Knowledge required: 

•Knowledge of basic civil/electrical hand tools, materials and Equipment.
•Knowledge of safety.
•Knowledge basic Fire-fighting and first aid
