Job Description
Parmalat Africa is part of the French international dairy company Lactalis and is one of the major players in the Southern African dairy industry. It has operations in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Swaziland and Mozambique.The available position is Import Clerk at Head Office, Stellenbosch.
The primary focus of the role will be the handling of logistical and administrative processes relating to exports. This role is ideal for an individual with high energy levels, strong organisation and prioritisation skills and has at least 6 years Export experience.
Required Skills
• Minimum Matric
• Industry related courses specific to Import and Export processes
• Previous experience (at least 3-4 years) in a relevant role
• Strong administrative skills and to be very organised with good planning and time-management skill
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Strong sense of urgency and focus to meet deadlines
• Knowledge and experience of customs documentation and procedures as well as warehouse and transport procedures
• Good Numeric skills
• Engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective interactions and achievement of results
• Energetic individual that shows initiative and are pro-active
• Able to work without supervision

Duties & Responsibilities
• Tracking of shipments and communicating the status thereof to relevant receiving parties / departments
• Handling of all import shipments, arranging the movement of goods and flow of paperwork to ensure customs clearances are obtained quickly and deliveries are made in good time.
• Liaise with overseas offices, suppliers, partners and agents.
• Supplier communication regarding orders, updates on loading, shipment detail and final shipping documents
• In some cases the person will be responsible for managing the full import logistical process for a shipment; collection from supplier to factory site
• Liaising with external stakeholders e.g. inspection companies
• Create requisitions and order consumables for department
• Ensure full traceability of all import documents per shipment with organised filing system
