CSIR - Internship: Air-conditioning

About the job: 

The CSIR has an Internship opportunity in the Management Services. The incumbent will assist with carrying out maintenance and repairs of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems whilst in the process of gaining experience in HVAC. The position is based in Pretoria. 

Key responsibilities: 

 Assist with providing professional first line support on heating, ventilation and air conditioning matters; 

 Perform routine maintenance tasks on air-conditioning and refrigeration systems; 

 Monitor and test system performance using special equipment; 

 Carry out emergency repairs; 

 Maintain tools used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning maintenance; 

 Assist with installation of split units, inverter split units, packaged units and ventilation systems; 

 Carry out preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems; 

 Diagnose and repair units; 

 Assist with maintenance of safety performance and statutory compliance; 

 Maintain files. 

Qualifications, skills and experience: 

 A national technical (N6)Mechanical or Electrical certificate; 

 Knowledge of operation of air-conditioning systems will be an added advantage; 

 Knowledge of basic refrigeration principles; 

 Knowledgeable different heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems will be an added advantage; 

 High degree of customer focus and care;
